Uncommon in Britain until recently, when its range extended dramatically; fairly common in Essex, especially near the coast
Recognition
Predominantly brown with characteristic yellow 'u' on its pronotum ('neck')
Continuous stridulation on warm, sunny days, dropping down into vegetation if disturbed
